North Coast Aboriginal Corporation for Community Health has created a successful partnership with the Division of General Practice in the Sunshine Coast and Gympie Districts to bulk-bill Indigenous clients.

This is a major win for Indigenous people given the current climate of bulk-billing.

I wonder if anyone has thought of this?

The Best of Health

Our Motto is “Striving for the improvement of the general health and well-being of the Indigenous Australian population residing in the Sunshine Coast and Gympie Districts.”

A board of directors consisting of a cross section of our Indigenous community members are elected by a majority vote and meet once a month to oversee the direction of local health issues within this region.

NCACCH was incorporated in 1997 to provide the tool in which to deliver these needs.

NCACCH believes its important to continue to raise the health standards within our Indigenous community and will continue to strive to reach our common goal.

I wonder how well the Brokerage Model is going?

Brokerage Model
Wow: That Many

With the increase in the numbers of referrers, the numbers of clients accessing North Coast service have increased.

To date the number of referrals to health services have been over 1700 which reflects the quality of the Brokerage Model and the dedication of the referrers.

The Sunshine Coast and Gympie regions have a number of Indigenous health programs established. NCACCH, at ground level, enables a localised input into those health issues not already covered, which also enables those issues to be addressed immediately.

North Coast has also engaged consultants to help establish a set of guidelines and procedures . These instruments, as well as a register of service providers will ensure the accountability and efficiency of provision of services for many years to come.

Promotional

NCACCH has been busy over the last several months continuing to promote the services of the brokerage model and keeping the public informed by attending functions, producing flyers, other promotional material as well as our network of referrers.

In July we held a stall at the NADIOC celebrations held at Cotton Tree park.

August this year we attended the Aged Care Expo which was held at Cota Hall Maroochydore.

September saw NCACCH represented at the Festuri Multi cultural festival held at the Sunshine Coast University.

In October Chairperson Tom Cleary and EO John Spink made a flying visit to Canberra to talk with the Department of Health and Ageing, receiving a standing ovation following a powerpoint presentation.

To ensure quality management and outcomes, NCACCH continues to hold workshops and forums to ensure all stakeholders are kept up to date with the progression and where we are at with the Brokerage Model.
